Do I need to believe in tarot for a reading to help me?

No, many clients come in curious or skeptical. Readings work as a structured way to reflect on your current situation, not a test of belief.

What's the difference between a psychic reading and a tarot reading?

A tarot reading uses the cards' symbolism as a framework for reflection and guidance, while a psychic reading typically relies on intuitive perception without cards. Fix o' Whimsy specializes in tarot.

Can I book a private group tarot reading for an event?

Yes. Fix o' Whimsy offers private group readings for birthdays, bridal showers, girls' nights, and corporate or spiritual retreats, hosted at our Occoquan shop or your location.

What should I bring or prepare before my tarot reading?

Nothing special is required, just come with an open mind and, if you have one, a specific question or area of life you'd like the reading to focus on. General readings work well too if you'd rather see what comes up naturally.

Is tarot reading confidential and judgment-free?

Yes. Every session at Fix o' Whimsy is private and held in a supportive, judgment-free space, whether you're exploring tarot for the first time or you're a returning client.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. i went in with some nerves, not knowing what to expect but danielle’s presence was instantly comforting. she told me everything i needed to hear without even knowing i needed to hear it. the reading felt more like talking to a friend who had insight rather than a stranger reading off cards. i highly highly recommend, and i can’t wait to go back!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Fix O’ Whimsy is a delightful addition to Occoquan. This review is long overdue, but I’m glad I waited because my five stars has been further confirmed over time. My first encounter was during the 2025 Fall Festival when Danielle had a small table set up in front of her brand new shop. I was with a friend who stopped for a tarot card reading. As an objective third party, I was really impressed with the reading. Danielle hit on a few things that I don’t think were visually evident, which is pretty amazing, and her intuition and empathy were on clear display. Whether you are really into tarot cards or just want to dip your toe in the water with a reading, you will love the time you spend with her. She instantly feels like a friend.

I told my husband about how awesome she was, and he gave me a gift certificate for a tarot card class with her. This is an EXCELLENT gift. She is a gifted storyteller and teacher, and her warm nature made me feel instantly welcomed into her space. Her explanations of the cards and their meanings supported the way my brain works. I had been trying to dabble in the cards with rote memorization and was not finding much success. Her fun, personable approach wove the cards together into a story that was easy to remember and understand. I booked a 30 minute reading for myself based on that experience and the street fair observation.

The reading she gave me was everything I hoped for; it was truly a conversation that allowed me to frame my thoughts about a particular issue in a reassuring and organized way. Danielle brings a modern approach to her shop and to her reading work. She radiates positive energy and seems connected to it in a way that brings light to the secular world.

I highly recommend stopping by the shop. It’s filled with cool art, books, and jewelry. Take her class with a friend and/or have her read cards for you - it’s a great experience.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. To say Danielle is incredible is a severe understatement. I have visited her twice, and both tarot readings were phenomenal. The entire group’s readings were the most accurate we’ve EVER experienced. Please do yourself a favor and RUN, dont walk!!! I’ll be back time and time again.

Common Questions

Most Popular Questions

about our tarot classes answered.

Are these tarot card classes suitable for absolute beginners who have never read cards before?

Absolutely! Our hands-on tarot card classes are structured to welcome beginners. We start with the fundamentals, focusing on connecting with the Rider-Waite deck (which is included) and building confidence in basic card interpretation, intuition, and simple spreads.

What is the main focus for intermediate and advanced students in these sessions?

While core interpretation is covered, advanced students focus on deepening their reading practice through complex subjects. This includes exploring court card personalities, understanding the nuances of reversed cards, integrating numerology and elemental associations, and mastering advanced, multi-card spreads for detailed life questions.

Which tarot deck will we be learning to use in the class?

We focus on the globally recognized and foundational Rider–Waite tarot deck. A new copy of this deck is included with your registration and is yours to keep, ensuring you have the perfect tool to start your practice immediately.

How long is each class session, and is registration required for every meeting?

Each class session runs for approximately two hours, starting promptly at 6:00 PM on both Wednesdays and Saturdays. Since the content often cycles or builds, we recommend reserving your spot for each session you plan to attend to ensure we have your complimentary wine and deck ready!

Will I learn how to perform readings for others, or is this just for personal reflection?

You will learn skills applicable to both! The classes teach you how to interpret the cards clearly and ethically, which are the foundations for reading others. Many students move quickly from using the cards for personal growth and reflection to confidently providing insightful readings for friends, family, and clients.
